Update your WordPress website to benefit from the latest functions and options

The WordPress Team is continuously working on improvements, releasing a major update with new functionality and options periodically. With each of these major updates, WordPress gets better and easier to use – a very good reason to keep your WordPress installation always at the latest version.

Update WordPress to keep your website safe from hacking attacks

All programmed systems can be misused by unauthorized intruders. WordPress, as any other Content Management System, needs to be regularly updated to be protected against hacking and spamming attacks. Hackers are on a continuous quest for security holes through which they can get access to such systems for sending their spam mails, collecting data or even blackmailing the owner. WordPress is the most used CMS worldwide, and thus became a favorite target. Regularly updating WordPress keeps your system at maximum security.

Automatic WordPress Updates

By default, WordPress has automatic updates enabled and installs all minor updates for you. These minor updates are most often bug fixes and security updates and most important. Yet, the major update releases, that raise the second or even the first version number (e.g. from 4.3 to 4.4 or even to 5.0) and contain great improvements in functionality and user experience, are not automatically done. This is wisely chosen, since such updates can more easy create conflicts or incompatibilities with unattended themes and plugins.

Manually updating your WordPress

Manually updating WordPress is actually easy and just a button away. It is though highly recommended to backup your website before performing an update, making sure you can recreate it in case of unforeseen incidents, which might be caused by an interuption during the update process or incompatibilities of themes or plugins. The longer the last update is away, the higher is the probability of such cases to occur. If you didn’t care for updates for a long time and/or if you feel uncomfortable with that step, it is good to have an expert at hand. Once you are up and running in the latest version, you can more easy take care of future updates by yourself.

Updating Themes and Plugins

Not only WordPress itself, but also all the themes and plugins need to be regularly updated for security, and sometimes unexpected surprises can occur after an update, especially with elaborated themes. The website might look slightly different, or in the rare cases a theme undergoes a complete restructuring, parts of the customization might even cease working and leave you with a buggy or even unreadable website. Fixing your WordPress after Update issues

If one of these rare but possible incidents happen to you after you updated your site, and you are not experienced enough to know what happened or even to fix it, it is best to have an expert looking at your WordPress installation.

How can I help you with your Update?

The most important part is to make sure your website is completely backed up regularly. If you didn’t already take proper care yourself, I will install a backup plugin and set the options according to your specific needs. Read more about my Backup Service.

The next step will be to perform the update of the WordPress Core, plugins, themes and translations.

The site will then be checked for functionality and design, making sure that nothing got lost or changed by the updates.

If issues appear, minor problems will be fixed right away and included in the service. In case of severe problems, as an outdated plugin not working any longer in the actual WordPress version, the website will be set back to its original state and you will receive a report with suggestions for solutions that will be applied only with your confirmation.

What’s the fee for this service?

If all goes fine, the whole update process including handling will be solved quickly, so I can offer it for just

$20 / 20€
